Mobility, Balance, Falls & Rehabilitation For Seniors
As we get older, staying independent, mobile and confident in our own home becomes more important than ever. But for many older adults, getting to a physiotherapy clinic simply isn't practical — and it shouldn't have to be.
Our specialist physiotherapists and occupational therapists come directly to you, delivering expert, one-to-one care in the place that matters most: your home.
Why home visits work better for older adults
Treating you at home isn't just more convenient — it's clinically better. We can see exactly how you move around your own living space, identify any hazards or environmental factors affecting your safety, and build a treatment plan around your real, everyday life. We also work directly alongside family members and carers, so the people who support you are fully part of the process.
Falls prevention & assessment
Falls are one of the most serious risks facing older adults — but they're not inevitable. We provide comprehensive, multi-factorial falls assessments to identify your specific risk factors, and create a personalised plan to reduce them. We help you move with greater confidence, rebuild your balance and strength, and make your home environment as safe as possible.
Regular, tailored exercise also plays a proven role in reducing the risk of major illnesses — including heart disease, stroke, dementia, cancer and arthritis — while improving quality of life and mental wellbeing. (NHS, UK)
Occupational therapy — supporting your independence
Our occupational therapists work alongside our physiotherapists to help older adults maintain or regain their independence at home. From support with everyday functional activities to advice on home adaptations and lifestyle management, OT is a vital part of staying well, safe and in control.
What to expect on your first visit
Your therapist will arrive at a time that suits you. They'll begin by listening — asking about your concerns, your medical history, and what you'd most like to achieve. They'll then carry out a thorough assessment, which may include:
- Walking and mobility assessment
- Balance and falls risk evaluation
- Strength and flexibility testing
- Movement and posture analysis
- Functional ability in your home environment
From there, a personalised treatment plan is developed entirely around your goals. With your consent, we're also happy to liaise with your GP or other health professionals to make sure your care is fully joined up.
We cover Dorset, Hampshire and Wiltshire. If you'd like to find out how we can help, call us for a friendly, no-obligation chat — we'd love to hear from you.

How We Help Older Adults

A fall can be a frightening experience — and for many older adults, the fear of falling again can be just as limiting as the fall itself. Our physiotherapists and occupational therapists provide comprehensive, multi-factorial falls assessments to identify exactly what's contributing to your risk, whether that's balance, gait, strength, medication or your home environment.
We use validated outcome measures to assess risk accurately, set meaningful goals and track your progress. From there, we develop a personalised falls prevention programme to improve your safety, rebuild your confidence, and help you move freely through your home without fear.
As we age, we naturally lose muscle mass and bone density — which can lead to weakness, reduced movement and difficulty with everyday activities. But declining strength and mobility isn't something you simply have to accept.
Our physiotherapists can help you maintain and rebuild your strength, balance and function — keeping you independent for longer. We'll create a personalised exercise and treatment programme tailored to your goals. And we'll make sure it's something you actually enjoy.
There is strong evidence that physiotherapy significantly improves outcomes for older people living with frailty. On the first visit, your physiotherapist carries out a comprehensive geriatric assessment to identify your rehabilitation goals and shape your treatment plan.
We focus on restoring movement, strength and function — helping you get back on your feet sooner and preventing further deterioration. Recovery is possible at every age, and we're here to support every step of it.
Being able to make a cup of tea, get in and out of bed, or manage the stairs safely might seem like small things — but these everyday activities have an enormous impact on independence, confidence and quality of life. Our specialist physiotherapists and occupational therapists help you regain the ability to do the things that matter most to you.
We can help with:
- Kitchen tasks — preparing meals, reaching into cupboards, washing up
- Getting in and out of a car
- Standing up from a chair
- Getting in and out of bed
- Using the stairs safely
- Any activity you're currently finding difficult
Being able to sit comfortably and safely has a profound effect on daily life. Good positioning helps you stay engaged with the world around you, interact with others, eat and drink safely, and maintain your mood and mental wellbeing.
Our physiotherapists and occupational therapists are trained in seating and wheelchair assessments and can advise on the right chair for your needs. We also support contracture management, splinting and positioning, and can assess sleeping requirements. For those affected by changes in tone, posture, reduced strength or cognitive impairments, we'll find a solution that makes a real difference to your everyday comfort and quality of life.
Chronic pain is one of the most significant challenges facing older adults — affecting independence, social connection and quality of life. Our approach is gentle, holistic and entirely personalised to you.
We take time to understand all the factors contributing to your pain, and draw on a range of techniques including tailored exercises, breathing techniques, pacing advice, manual therapy, gentle massage and lifestyle modifications. With your consent, we can also liaise with your GP and other health professionals, and signpost you to additional services where helpful.
We work with a wide range of conditions including osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, osteoporosis, fibromyalgia, back pain, Parkinson's disease, peripheral neuropathy and more. Whatever the cause, we'll work with you to manage your pain and improve your quality of life.
The right walking aid or piece of equipment can make an enormous difference to safety, independence and confidence at home. Our physiotherapists and occupational therapists are highly experienced in assessing your gait, balance, strength and home environment to recommend exactly the right support for your needs.
We advise on walking aids, home adaptations and equipment, identify potential hazards, and provide full training on anything we recommend — so you feel confident and safe straight away.
Coming home from hospital can feel overwhelming. You may feel weak, unsteady and exhausted, and your confidence may have taken a knock. Waiting for NHS therapy to begin can mean losing ground at the very moment when early rehabilitation makes the biggest difference.
We bridge that gap. Our physiotherapists can meet you at home quickly, assess your current mobility, balance, strength and function, and get your recovery started without delay.
We can help with:
- Rebuilding muscle strength and function
- Improving mobility and balance
- Restoring confidence and reducing fear of falling
- Support with daily activities
- Posture, tone and seating
- Equipment and home adaptation advice
- Pain management
- Respiratory support
Arthritis and osteoporosis are two of the most common conditions affecting older adults — and both respond well to the right physiotherapy.
If you have arthritis, you may be experiencing pain, stiffness, swelling or difficulty with movement. Exercise is one of the most effective ways to manage symptoms, but knowing what's right for you isn't always straightforward. Your physiotherapist will assess your joints, surrounding muscle strength, flexibility, walking and balance — then prescribe a tailored programme to reduce pain, improve mobility and strengthen the joint.
If you have osteoporosis, we'll focus on targeted strengthening exercises to build bone and muscle density, improve balance and reduce your risk of fracture — helping prevent further deterioration and keeping you moving safely.
Physiotherapy has been shown to slow the progression of conditions such as Parkinson's disease and significantly improve function, mobility and quality of life. Our specialist physiotherapists understand the complex challenges these conditions bring — and by coming to you at home, we can tailor treatment directly to the way you live.
We help improve balance, strength, walking, coordination and mental wellbeing, and work to minimise deterioration in flexibility and function over time. For Parkinson's, research shows that regular exercise can reduce motor symptoms. For COPD and other respiratory conditions, we advise on breathing techniques and exercises to improve activity levels and comfort.
We'll also help you find easier ways to manage tasks that have become more difficult, and prescribe a personalised home exercise programme to keep you as active and independent as possible.
Whether you're preparing for surgery or recovering from it, physiotherapy plays a vital role at every stage.
Before your operation — known as prehabilitation — we help manage your pain and work to get you as strong as possible ahead of surgery, improving your outcomes and reducing recovery time.
After your joint replacement, your physiotherapist will guide you through every stage of rehabilitation. We'll assess your joint range, muscle strength, flexibility, walking and balance, progress your exercises as you improve, and advise on appropriate walking aids throughout your recovery. Our goal is to help you regain full function as safely and quickly as possible.
