Frailty and Deconditioning

Regain strength.

Restore movement.

Maximise independence.

Following a hospital stay, many people come out of hospital deconditioned and frail with reduced confidence and strength. Some people may be awaiting NHS physiotherapy to help regain strength which often has long waiting lists. We can visit you as soon as you are home to help reduce further deconditioning and get you back on your feet sooner. We can also work alongside the NHS team or we are able to bridge the gap while you are awaiting support.. Whichever you choose, we can guide your rehabilitation programme, aiming to get you back on your feet as soon as we can.

Research shows, no matter how frail someone is, they will benefit from exercise. This is best prescribed by a physiotherapist to ensure the right exercises are recommended.

Ways we can help-

·       Promoting healthy ageing

·       Restore movement and function

·       Improving strength, balance and mobility

·       Improving posture and sitting balance

·       Equipment advice

·       Wheelchair assessment

·       Improving aerobic capacity

·       Improving quality of life

There is significant evidence that physiotherapy interventions can improve outcomes for older people with frailty. Our physiotherapists will complete a comprehensive geriatric assessment on their first visit to help identify rehabilitation goals and guide treatment plan.

Our physiotherapists can help to restore movement and function and reduce your risk of illness in the future.

Following a hospital stay, frailty can worsen leading to increased risk of falls, confusion and deconditioning. Frailty is associated with higher rates of hospital admission and death. Proactive intervention can be crucial in frailty management and prevention of worsening symptoms.

With no waiting lists, we can visit you as soon as possible to help reduce further deconditioning and improve your overall strength and wellbeing.

Our physiotherapists can help guide your path to recovery to ensure you are back to fitness sooner.
