Travel Costs (if applicable)
Most visits carry no travel charge at all. We have therapists based across Dorset, Hampshire, Wiltshire, Somerset and Avon, and we allocate the therapist closest to you wherever possible.
Where travel does apply, it is charged at £1.50 per mile beyond a 5 mile radius — and always agreed with you before your first visit, so there are no surprises.

If these prices feel out of reach, please still call us. There is often help available that people do not realise they qualify for.
- Paying privately — no referral needed, and you pay after each visit
- Private health insurance — we accept BUPA and WPA, and can invoice BUPA directly
- Personal budgets and Direct Payments from your local council
- Attendance Allowance, if you are over State Pension age
- NHS Continuing Healthcare funding you already hold
- Shorter, less expensive visits spread over a longer period, where that suits you better
Using health insurance? Please check your cover before your first visit. Many policies only pay up to a set amount, either per session or per year, and most insurers ask you to get a pre-authorisation code before treatment starts.
When you contact your insurer, tell them how long your sessions will be and what they cost (see the prices above), and ask exactly how much they will pay towards each one. Being told “physiotherapy is covered” does not always mean the whole visit is covered — for example, some policies pay for a 30-minute session but not a 60-minute one. If your policy pays a fixed amount per session, you may need to top up the difference for a longer visit. If it gives you a yearly allowance, a longer visit may be covered in full until that allowance runs out.

Council and other funding varies too, so it is worth checking what yours includes before you book. We have written a plain-English guide explaining how each route works and what to ask.

What Happens at Your First Visit
Your first visit lasts 60 minutes or more, and treatment starts on the day. Your physiotherapist or occupational therapist will:
- Talk it through with you — your medical history and medication, the main problem you’d like help with, and what you’re finding difficult day to day.
- Agree your goals — what you want to get back to, whether that’s managing the stairs, walking to the shops or getting in and out of the car.
- Assess how you move — your movement, strength, nerves, balance and walking, getting in and out of a chair or bed, and getting about outdoors.
- Start treatment and leave you with a plan — including exercises and advice, so you know what we found, what we recommend and what to do between visits.
How Many Visits Will I Need?
There’s no set course. Every plan is tailored to you, and we look at you as a whole person — your health, your home and what matters to you — not just the problem you called about. To give you an idea, here is what our own records show for the clients we have seen since April 2024:
- About 1 in 4 needed just one visit.
- About half needed three visits or fewer.
- About 1 in 5 had more than ten visits.
- For clients who have finished with us, the first and last visits were typically about two and a half weeks apart.
You’re in charge of how far you go
You guide your sessions. We only book what’s appropriate for you, and when you feel you’ve had enough physiotherapy, we stop — leaving you with advice and exercises so you can keep making progress on your own.
We never abandon a client
If you have a setback, a new problem or a spell in hospital, we’re happy to come back. About 1 in 10 of our clients have returned to us after a break of two months or more.

Pricing Questions
How much does home physiotherapy cost?
A comprehensive initial assessment including treatment is £110 for 60 minutes or more. Follow-up visits are £55 for 30 minutes, £82.50 for 45 minutes, and £110 for 60 minutes. Your first phone consultation is free.
Does occupational therapy cost more than physiotherapy?
No. Occupational therapy is charged at exactly the same rates, including home adaptation assessments, seating and wheelchair assessments, and daily living assessments. There is no specialist premium.
Are there any hidden costs?
No. Two things can cost extra, and both are always agreed with you first. Travel is £1.50 per mile beyond a 5-mile radius, and most visits carry no travel charge because we allocate a therapist close to you. Extra paperwork, such as case reports for case managers, care plans, manual handling assessments or complex referrals, is charged separately. Standard notes after each visit are included in the session price.
Do you sell blocks or packages of sessions?
No, and that is deliberate. We cannot know how many visits you need until we have seen you. If you can only afford one visit, you will leave that visit knowing exactly how to carry on by yourself. We’ll always be honest about what’s realistic, and we’ll help you reach the goals you can achieve.
What if I cannot afford it?
Please call us anyway. Attendance Allowance, Direct Payments, insurance and NHS Continuing Healthcare all help people more often than they expect, and we can also spread treatment over shorter, less expensive visits. See our guide on how to pay for your care.
Do I need a GP referral?
No. Call Salveo Forma on 07384 590177 and we aim to visit within 1–7 days of your call. We also accept referrals from GPs, consultants and insurers.
How do I pay?
