Cathy qualified in 1997 from Oxford Brookes University with a BSc. (Hons) Occupational Therapy
She began her career at St George’s Hospital, London gaining experience in a variety of settings. Cathy moved back to Dorset in 2001 after travelling and has worked in NHS community rehabilitation services since. She has over 20 years’ experience in providing rehabilitation for patients with complex long-term conditions where deconditioning has affected functional independence in Activities of Daily Living. (ADLS)
She has extensive knowledge and skills in neurological conditions including Stroke and Parkinson’s and is able to provide physical and cognitive neurological rehabilitation. She has a special interest in contracture management and has experience in neurological splinting of the upper limb.
As an Occupational therapist she has a particular passion for wellbeing, improving quality of life and supporting patients to live well with their conditions. She can offer support with anxiety, lifestyle management, pacing and fatigue management and likes to use functional activity as well as exercise as part of her rehabilitation programmes.
Cathy has also worked extensively with falls. She can offer practical solutions to activities, environmental assessments, advice on equipment provision and manual handling in addition to exercise provision.
Cathy still loves to travel and is always planning her next trip, she is married with children and has a busy home life. She values wellbeing and creates balance by enjoying yoga, swimming and lengthy dog walks on our beautiful Jurassic coast.
