HCPC-Registered Team
NHS-experienced clinicians — not a contractor network.
Recovering from an operation, a fall or a spell in hospital shouldn’t mean a journey you’re in no state to make — so we come to you.
Whether it’s rebuilding strength after a hip replacement, getting your confidence back after a fall, managing Parkinson’s or a stroke, or getting over an injury, our physiotherapists and occupational therapists treat you at home in Southbourne. We aim to visit within 1–7 days of your call, and no GP referral is needed.
Arranging physiotherapy for yourself or for someone you love? Just call Salveo Forma on 07384 590177 and we’ll take it from there.
Our HCPC-registered physiotherapists and occupational therapists cover Southbourne, including Southbourne Grove, Fisherman's Walk and Pokesdown, and Tuckton, Wick and Iford along the Stour. We visit people in their own home, in a care home, or in a nursing home — building a treatment plan around your life rather than a clinic timetable.
Southbourne is older than England as a whole. More than one in four people here are aged 65 or over — more than 5,000 people — and in East Southbourne and Tuckton it is almost one in three. So a great deal of our work in Southbourne is physiotherapy for elderly people at home: falls and balance, rebuilding strength after a hospital stay, Parkinson's disease, stroke recovery and arthritis.
We also do a lot of post-operative work here. Planned hip and knee replacements for the area are carried out by University Hospitals Dorset at the Royal Bournemouth Hospital and Poole Hospital, and the rebuilding after that surgery happens at home — on your own stairs, in and out of your own chair.
Some people need occupational therapy alongside physiotherapy, and most aren't sure which one they need. Physiotherapy rebuilds strength, balance and movement; occupational therapy looks at the practical business of daily life — getting in and out of a chair, managing stairs, washing and dressing safely. We provide both in Southbourne. Call Salveo Forma on 07384 590177 and we'll tell you honestly what would help, and what we can arrange right now. No GP referral is needed.
We provide specialist home physiotherapy and occupational therapy for:
- Older People Physiotherapy & Occupational Therapy
- Falls prevention and balance rehabilitation
- Neurological rehabilitation — including Parkinson's disease and stroke recovery
- Recovering mobility, strength and confidence after a hospital stay
- Pre and post-operative rehabilitation — including hip and knee replacements
- Back pain, joint pain, muscle pain and sports injuries
- Rheumatological Conditions
We Help You Live Independently With Confidence, Meaning & Purpose
Whether you're rebuilding strength after a hip replacement, getting steady on your feet again after a fall, or regaining confidence after a stay in hospital — getting to a clinic isn't always possible. We remove that barrier entirely.
Our physiotherapists and occupational therapists come to you, delivering expert one-to-one treatment in your home or care home. No hospital car park. No waiting rooms. Just focused, specialist care at a time and pace that works for you and your family.
We treat you as a whole person — not just your symptoms.
If your shoulder hurts because your walking stick is the wrong height, we'll treat the shoulder and sort the stick. A knee problem that started with an old ankle injury gets both looked at. We find the cause, not just the complaint. As a small, close-knit team, we also work alongside your family and carers, making sure everyone involved feels supported, informed and part of the process.
Our clinicians each hold specialist areas of expertise, and we carefully match every patient with the therapist best suited to their condition and goals. From the very first visit, you're in the right hands.
Request a Call BackNothing means more to us than the 5-star reviews our clients share on Google. These heartfelt testimonials showcase what drives our team every day — delivering expert, empathetic physiotherapy care that helps people rebuild their strength, mobility, and independence without leaving home.

Whatever your condition, we match you with the clinician whose specialism fits your needs — and we treat you in the place where you actually have to manage day to day.
Where NHS rehabilitation ends, and how we pick up from there.
Southbourne is well served, and it would be dishonest to open any other way. The nearest emergency department is at the Royal Bournemouth Hospital on Castle Lane East, run by University Hospitals Dorset NHS Foundation Trust. It moved into the hospital's new BEACH building in 2025 and is open 24 hours a day, with an urgent treatment centre open from 8am to midnight. Planned hip and knee replacements are carried out there and at Poole Hospital.
So the honest question is: with all of that nearby, why would you need us?
Because the hospital is where the operation happens, and home is where the recovery happens. A hip replacement, a knee, a fractured wrist or hip — the surgery takes a morning. The rebuilding takes weeks, and almost all of it happens in your own house. A hospital on Castle Lane East does nothing for you at week three, when you still cannot manage your own stairs and the exercise sheet is on the kitchen table.
Outpatient physiotherapy is the other half of it. It exists, and it is good, but it means getting there — out to Castle Lane East — and parking, on a leg or a hip that is not ready for any of that. Pokesdown station is on the main line, but the hospital is not. For a lot of older people the journey is harder than the treatment, and appointments get missed for exactly that reason.
NHS community therapy at home comes through the Community Therapy Team at Dorset HealthCare University NHS Foundation Trust, which covers Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole. It is for adults registered with a GP in the area who are medically stable, and you can refer yourself.
Where there is council support, it comes through BCP Council's reablement service: a short period of intensive support at home, for up to six weeks. The council also offers occupational therapy assessments at home. We continue the work after that, or from the start if reablement was never part of the picture, for as long as it's genuinely helping and alongside anything the NHS already has in place.
Clear pricing, agreed before your first visit. No packages and no block bookings.
Your first visit lasts 60 minutes or more, and treatment starts on the day: we talk through your health and what you’re finding hard, agree your goals, look at how you move, and leave you with exercises and a plan.
There’s no set course. About 1 in 4 of our clients need just one visit, and about half need three or fewer.

Most people pay privately, but it isn't the only route.
- Paying privately — no referral, pay after each visit
- Private health insurance, including BUPA and WPA
- Personal budgets and Direct Payments from BCP Council
- Attendance Allowance, if you are over State Pension age
- NHS Continuing Healthcare funding you already hold
Cover varies by policy and by council, so it's worth checking what yours includes before you book. We've written a plain-English guide explaining how each route works and what to ask.
How to pay for your careAs a small, close-knit team, we pride ourselves on providing high quality treatment with a personalised and friendly approach. Do you provide home physiotherapy in Southbourne?
Yes. Our HCPC-registered physiotherapists and occupational therapists visit people at home across Southbourne, from Southbourne Grove and Fisherman's Walk to Pokesdown, Tuckton, Wick and Iford. We also visit residents in care homes and nursing homes throughout the area. Call Salveo Forma on 07384 590177 to arrange a visit.
Why would I need a home physiotherapist when the Royal Bournemouth is so close?
Because the hospital is where the treatment starts, and home is where the recovery happens. The Royal Bournemouth Hospital has a 24-hour emergency department and carries out planned hip and knee replacements, and it is a good hospital. But a hip replacement takes a morning to do and weeks to rebuild — almost all of it in your own house. Getting to an outpatient appointment and parking is, for many older people, harder than the treatment itself. We come to you instead, and build your programme around your actual stairs, your actual chair and your actual bathroom.
How much does a home physiotherapy visit cost in Southbourne?
An initial assessment is £110 for 60 or more minutes, including treatment, and follow-up visits start at £55 for 30 minutes. A 45-minute follow-up is £82.50 and 60 minutes is £110. There are no packages and no block bookings, and the first phone conversation is free.
Can you help after an operation at the Royal Bournemouth Hospital?
Yes, and it is a large part of what we do. After a hip or knee replacement, a fracture or other surgery, we visit you at home in Southbourne and work through a programme built around your surgeon's protocol, alongside any NHS follow-up rather than instead of it. If BCP Council's reablement service has been involved, that support lasts up to six weeks — we often start where it finishes.
Can physiotherapy help after a fall in Southbourne?
Yes. Falls and balance are a large part of our work in Southbourne. We assess strength, balance and walking in the place where the fall happened — the stairs, the rugs, the bathroom, the chair you get up from — and build a programme to rebuild strength and confidence and reduce the risk of another fall. Families are welcome to be involved. Call Salveo Forma on 07384 590177 and we aim to visit within 1–7 days.
Do you provide occupational therapy at home in Southbourne?
Yes. We provide both physiotherapy and occupational therapy in Southbourne, and most people are not sure which one they need — which is completely normal. Physiotherapy rebuilds strength, balance and movement. Occupational therapy looks at the practical business of daily life: getting in and out of a chair, managing the stairs, washing and dressing safely, and whether the home itself is helping or hindering. The two overlap constantly and our therapists often work on the same case. BCP Council also offers occupational therapy assessments at home. Call Salveo Forma on 07384 590177 and we'll tell you honestly what would help.
Which parts of Southbourne do you cover?
The whole of Southbourne, including Southbourne Grove, Fisherman's Walk and Pokesdown, and Tuckton, Wick and Iford along the Stour. If you are just outside, call Salveo Forma on 07384 590177 and we'll tell you which of our pages covers you.
Can I self-refer in Southbourne?
Yes. You don't need a GP referral — call Salveo Forma on 07384 590177 and we'll arrange a visit. There is no need to go through anyone else. We also accept referrals from GPs, hospital consultants and insurers, and many of our clients are arranging care for a parent or partner, which is completely fine too.
More than one in four people in Southbourne are aged 65 or over — and almost one in three in East Southbourne and Tuckton.
Sources: Census 2021, ONS (East Southbourne and Tuckton, and West Southbourne wards; Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole); University Hospitals Dorset NHS Foundation Trust; Dorset HealthCare University NHS Foundation Trust; BCP Council adult social care.
Southbourne has a major hospital with a new emergency department a few miles away on Castle Lane East. That is fortunate, and it is worth saying first.
It is also older than England as a whole. Across Southbourne's two wards, 26.4 per cent of people are aged 65 or over — more than 5,000 people — and in East Southbourne and Tuckton the figure is 32.8 per cent. At the last count, 15.3 per cent of households across the BCP Council area were one person aged 66 or over, living alone.
That is who a home visit is for. A fall at home, a new hip, a spell in hospital that leaves someone weaker than when they went in — and a family, often living some distance away, trying to arrange help quickly.
And running through all of it is the same point. An emergency department on Castle Lane East does nothing for you at week three of a hip replacement, when the exercises are on the kitchen table and nobody has watched you try your own stairs. That is the bit we do.
