Emily Cross

Emily studied a bachelor’s degree in biology, before going on to study MSc Rehabilitation Science, graduating in 2017. Emily started her career within the NHS, working in a wide range of specialities to enhance her knowledge and clinical skills. These included elderly care rehabilitation, musculoskeletal outpatients, surgical wards, respiratory wards, ITU, orthopaedics, acute and hyper acute stroke units and community neurology.

Emily currently works as neuro-medical physiotherapist within the community. Emily understands the importance of providing a holistic rehabilitation approach, centred around the client’s own goals, and within an environment which is meaningful to the client. She does this through assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating specialist interventions, to help patients towards their goals. She believes this will empower clients to understand and self-manage their condition, increasing their function, independence and overall quality of life. She aims to do this in a fun and engaging way, which is personalised and meaningful. Emily can support clients who experience a range of problems including balance, coordination, weakness, fatigue, impaired walking, spasticity, contractures or pain.

When not working, Emily is kept busy by her young family. But also enjoys sailing, running and cycling.

Fun fact: in her younger days Emily was a keen footballer who played for Chelsea Ladies before playing in America.
