Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy & Rehabilitation At Home in Corfe Mullen

Home physiotherapy visit in Corfe Mullen, Dorset

Recovering from an operation, a fall or a spell in hospital shouldn't mean a journey you're in no state to make — so we come to you.

Whether it's rebuilding strength after a hip replacement, getting your confidence back after a fall, managing Parkinson's or a stroke, or getting over an injury, our physiotherapists and occupational therapists treat you at home in Corfe Mullen. We aim to visit within 1–7 days of your call, and no GP referral is needed.

Arranging physiotherapy for yourself or for someone you love? Just call Salveo Forma on 07384 590177 and we'll take it from there.

Our HCPC-registered physiotherapists and occupational therapists cover Corfe Mullen, from the village centre, East End and Lambs Green to Sleight. We visit people in their own home, in a care home, or in a nursing home — building a treatment plan around your life rather than a clinic timetable.

Corfe Mullen is older than England as a whole. In the Corfe Mullen ward, nearly one in four people are aged 65 or over — more than 2,500 people. So a great deal of our work in Corfe Mullen is physiotherapy for elderly people at home: falls and balance, rebuilding strength after a hospital stay, Parkinson's disease, stroke recovery and arthritis.

We also do a lot of post-operative work here. Planned hip and knee replacements for the area are carried out by University Hospitals Dorset at Poole Hospital and the Royal Bournemouth Hospital, and the rebuilding after that surgery happens at home — on your own stairs, in and out of your own chair.

Some people need occupational therapy alongside physiotherapy, and most aren't sure which one they need. Physiotherapy rebuilds strength, balance and movement; occupational therapy looks at the practical business of daily life — getting in and out of a chair, managing stairs, washing and dressing safely. We provide both in Corfe Mullen. Call Salveo Forma on 07384 590177 and we'll tell you honestly what would help, and what we can arrange right now. No GP referral is needed.

We provide specialist home physiotherapy and occupational therapy for:

  • Older People Physiotherapy & Occupational Therapy
  • Falls prevention and balance rehabilitation
  • Neurological rehabilitation — including Parkinson's disease and stroke recovery
  • Recovering mobility, strength and confidence after a hospital stay
  • Pre and post-operative rehabilitation — including hip and knee replacements
  • Back pain, joint pain, muscle pain and sports injuries
  • Rheumatological Conditions

Living Independently at Home

Older adult receiving physiotherapy at home in Corfe Mullen

We Help You Live Independently With Confidence, Meaning & Purpose

Whether you're rebuilding strength after a hip replacement, getting steady on your feet again after a fall, or regaining confidence after a stay in hospital — getting to a clinic isn't always possible. We remove that barrier entirely.

Our physiotherapists and occupational therapists come to you, delivering expert one-to-one treatment in your home or care home. No hospital car park. No waiting rooms. Just focused, specialist care at a time and pace that works for you and your family.

We treat you as a whole person — not just your symptoms.

If your shoulder hurts because your walking stick is the wrong height, we'll treat the shoulder and sort the stick. A knee problem that started with an old ankle injury gets both looked at. We find the cause, not just the complaint. As a small, close-knit team, we also work alongside your family and carers, making sure everyone involved feels supported, informed and part of the process.

Our clinicians each hold specialist areas of expertise, and we carefully match every patient with the therapist best suited to their condition and goals. From the very first visit, you're in the right hands.

After an Operation or Hospital Stay in Corfe Mullen

Where NHS rehabilitation ends, and how we pick up from there.

Corfe Mullen is well served, and it would be dishonest to open any other way. Poole Hospital, run by University Hospitals Dorset NHS Foundation Trust, currently has a 24-hour emergency department, and so does the Royal Bournemouth Hospital on Castle Lane East, in its new BEACH building. The trust plans to move emergency care from Poole to the Royal Bournemouth, with an urgent treatment centre staying at Poole. Both hospitals have urgent treatment centres, open from 8am to midnight every day, and planned hip and knee replacements are carried out at both. Closer to home, Victoria Hospital in Wimborne, run by Dorset HealthCare University NHS Foundation Trust, has a minor injuries unit open from 8am to 8pm every day and a physiotherapy department.

So the honest question is: with all of that nearby, why would you need us?

Because the hospital is where the operation happens, and home is where the recovery happens. A hip replacement, a knee, a fractured wrist or hip — the surgery takes a morning. The rebuilding takes weeks, and almost all of it happens in your own house. A hospital in Poole or Bournemouth does nothing for you at week three, when you still cannot manage your own stairs and the exercise sheet is on the kitchen table.

Outpatient physiotherapy is the other half of it. It exists, and it is good, but it means getting there — into Poole, over to Bournemouth or into Wimborne — and parking, on a leg or a hip that is not ready for any of that. For a lot of older people the journey is harder than the treatment, and appointments get missed for exactly that reason.

NHS rehabilitation at home comes through the integrated community rehabilitation teams at Dorset HealthCare University NHS Foundation Trust: physiotherapists, occupational therapists and rehabilitation nurses, usually for up to six weeks, and through a referral from your GP or another health professional.

Where there is council support, it comes through Dorset Council's reablement service: free, short-term help at home after a hospital stay — often just a few days, and up to four weeks. Its teams can include occupational therapists and physiotherapists. We continue the work after that, or from the start if reablement was never part of the picture, for as long as it's genuinely helping and alongside anything the NHS already has in place.

FAQs

Do you provide home physiotherapy in Corfe Mullen?

Yes. Our HCPC-registered physiotherapists and occupational therapists visit people at home across Corfe Mullen, including East End, Lambs Green and Sleight. We also visit residents in care homes and nursing homes throughout the area. Call Salveo Forma on 07384 590177 to arrange a visit.

Why would I need a home physiotherapist when Poole Hospital is so close?

Because the hospital is where the treatment starts, and home is where the recovery happens. Poole Hospital and the Royal Bournemouth Hospital both have emergency departments and carry out planned hip and knee replacements, and Victoria Hospital in Wimborne has a minor injuries unit. They are good services. But a hip replacement takes a morning to do and weeks to rebuild — almost all of it in your own house. Getting to an outpatient appointment and parking is, for many older people, harder than the treatment itself. We come to you instead, and build your programme around your actual stairs, your actual chair and your actual bathroom.

How much does a home physiotherapy visit cost in Corfe Mullen?

An initial assessment is £110 for 60 or more minutes, including treatment, and follow-up visits start at £55 for 30 minutes. A 45-minute follow-up is £82.50 and 60 minutes is £110. There are no packages and no block bookings, and the first phone conversation is free.

Can you help after an operation at Poole or the Royal Bournemouth?

Yes, and it is a large part of what we do. After a hip or knee replacement, a fracture or other surgery, we visit you at home in Corfe Mullen and work through a programme built around your surgeon's protocol, alongside any NHS follow-up rather than instead of it. If Dorset HealthCare's community rehabilitation team has been involved, that support usually runs for up to six weeks — we often start where it finishes.

Can physiotherapy help after a fall in Corfe Mullen?

Yes. Falls and balance are a large part of our work in Corfe Mullen. We assess strength, balance and walking in the place where the fall happened — the stairs, the rugs, the bathroom, the chair you get up from — and build a programme to rebuild strength and confidence and reduce the risk of another fall. Families are welcome to be involved. Call Salveo Forma on 07384 590177 and we aim to visit within 1–7 days.

Do you provide occupational therapy at home in Corfe Mullen?

Yes. We provide both physiotherapy and occupational therapy in Corfe Mullen, and most people are not sure which one they need — which is completely normal. Physiotherapy rebuilds strength, balance and movement. Occupational therapy looks at the practical business of daily life: getting in and out of a chair, managing the stairs, washing and dressing safely, and whether the home itself is helping or hindering. The two overlap constantly and our therapists often work on the same case. Dorset HealthCare's community rehabilitation teams also include occupational therapists. Call Salveo Forma on 07384 590177 and we'll tell you honestly what would help.

Which parts of Corfe Mullen do you cover?

The whole of Corfe Mullen, including East End, Lambs Green and Sleight. If you are just outside, call Salveo Forma on 07384 590177 and we'll tell you which of our pages covers you.

Can I self-refer in Corfe Mullen?

Yes. You don't need a GP referral — call Salveo Forma on 07384 590177 and we'll arrange a visit. There is no need to go through anyone else. We also accept referrals from GPs, hospital consultants and insurers, and many of our clients are arranging care for a parent or partner, which is completely fine too.

Corfe Mullen has two major hospitals within reach, in Poole and Bournemouth, and a minor injuries unit a few miles away in Wimborne. That is fortunate, and it is worth saying first.

It is also older than England as a whole. In the Corfe Mullen ward, 24.3 per cent of people are aged 65 or over, against 18.4 per cent for England, and across the Dorset Council area the figure is 29.6 per cent. At the last count, 17.6 per cent of households in the area were one person aged 66 or over, living alone.

That is who a home visit is for. A fall at home, a new hip, a spell in hospital that leaves someone weaker than when they went in — and a family, often living some distance away, trying to arrange help quickly.

And running through all of it is the same point. A hospital in Poole or Bournemouth does nothing for you at week three of a hip replacement, when the exercises are on the kitchen table and nobody has watched you try your own stairs. That is the bit we do.
