Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy & Rehabilitation At Home in Amesbury

Home physiotherapy visit in Amesbury, Wiltshire

Recovering from an operation, a fall or a spell in hospital shouldn't mean a journey you're in no state to make — so we come to you.

Whether it's rebuilding strength after a hip replacement, getting your confidence back after a fall, managing Parkinson's or a stroke, or getting over an injury, our physiotherapists treat you at home in Amesbury. We aim to visit within 1–7 days of your call, and no GP referral is needed.

Arranging physiotherapy for yourself or for someone you love? Just call Salveo Forma on 07384 590177 and we'll take it from there.

Our HCPC-registered physiotherapists cover Amesbury, from the town centre, Kings Gate and Archers Gate to Bulford, Durrington and Larkhill. We visit people in their own home, in a care home, or in a nursing home — building a treatment plan around your life rather than a clinic timetable.

Amesbury is younger than most of Wiltshire — with Bulford and Larkhill close by, it is an army town as much as a market town. But across the three Amesbury wards there are still around 2,500 people aged 65 or over, and much of our work here is physiotherapy for elderly people at home: falls and balance, rebuilding strength after a hospital stay, Parkinson's disease, stroke recovery and arthritis. We also see plenty of back, shoulder and knee problems from working life.

We also do a lot of post-operative work here. Salisbury District Hospital carries out hip and knee replacements for the area, and the rebuilding after that surgery happens at home — on your own stairs, in and out of your own chair.

Some people need occupational therapy alongside physiotherapy, and most aren't sure which one they need. Physiotherapy rebuilds strength, balance and movement; occupational therapy looks at the practical business of daily life — getting in and out of a chair, managing stairs, washing and dressing safely. Our Amesbury team is made up of physiotherapists at the moment, and we are actively recruiting occupational therapists for this area. Call Salveo Forma on 07384 590177 and we'll tell you honestly what would help, and what we can arrange right now. No GP referral is needed.

We provide specialist home physiotherapy visits for:

  • Older People Physiotherapy
  • Falls prevention and balance rehabilitation
  • Neurological rehabilitation — including Parkinson's disease and stroke recovery
  • Recovering mobility, strength and confidence after a hospital stay
  • Pre and post-operative rehabilitation — including hip and knee replacements
  • Back pain, joint pain, muscle pain and sports injuries
  • Rheumatological Conditions

Living Independently at Home

Older adult receiving physiotherapy at home in Amesbury

We Help You Live Independently With Confidence, Meaning & Purpose

Whether you're rebuilding strength after a hip replacement, getting steady on your feet again after a fall, or regaining confidence after a stay in hospital — getting to a clinic isn't always possible. We remove that barrier entirely.

Our physiotherapists come to you, delivering expert one-to-one treatment in your home or care home. No hospital car park. No waiting rooms. Just focused, specialist care at a time and pace that works for you and your family.

We treat you as a whole person — not just your symptoms.

If your shoulder hurts because your walking stick is the wrong height, we'll treat the shoulder and sort the stick. A knee problem that started with an old ankle injury gets both looked at. We find the cause, not just the complaint. As a small, close-knit team, we also work alongside your family and carers, making sure everyone involved feels supported, informed and part of the process.

Our clinicians each hold specialist areas of expertise, and we carefully match every patient with the therapist best suited to their condition and goals. From the very first visit, you're in the right hands.

After an Operation or Hospital Stay in Amesbury

Where NHS rehabilitation ends, and how we pick up from there.

Amesbury has good hospital care within reach, and it would be dishonest to open any other way. The nearest emergency department is at Salisbury District Hospital on Odstock Road, run by Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust as part of the BSW Hospitals Group, open 24 hours a day. It carries out hip and knee replacements, and it is home to the Duke of Cornwall Spinal Treatment Centre.

So the honest question is: with all of that nearby, why would you need us?

Because the hospital is where the operation happens, and home is where the recovery happens. A hip replacement, a knee, a fractured wrist or hip — the surgery takes a morning. The rebuilding takes weeks, and almost all of it happens in your own house. A hospital in Salisbury does nothing for you at week three, when you still cannot manage your own stairs and the exercise sheet is on the kitchen table.

Outpatient physiotherapy is the other half of it. It exists, and it is good, but it means getting there — down to Odstock Road on the far side of Salisbury — and parking, on a leg or a hip that is not ready for any of that. For a lot of older people the journey is harder than the treatment, and appointments get missed for exactly that reason.

NHS community health services across Wiltshire are run by HCRG Care Group under the name BSW Community Health. Some of its services take self-referrals; others need a referral from your GP or another health professional. Worth knowing: until April 2025 these services were run by Wiltshire Health and Care, so you may still see that name on older letters, leaflets and websites.

Where there is council support, it comes through Wiltshire Council's Reablement Service. Its teams include occupational therapists, and it lasts up to six weeks. We continue the work after that, or from the start if reablement was never part of the picture, for as long as it's genuinely helping and alongside anything the NHS already has in place.

FAQs

Do you provide home physiotherapy in Amesbury?

Yes. Our HCPC-registered physiotherapists visit people at home across Amesbury, from the town centre, Kings Gate and Archers Gate to Bulford, Durrington and Larkhill. We also visit residents in care homes and nursing homes throughout the area. Call Salveo Forma on 07384 590177 to arrange a visit.

Why would I need a home physiotherapist when Salisbury District Hospital is so close?

Because the hospital is where the treatment starts, and home is where the recovery happens. Salisbury District Hospital has a 24-hour emergency department and carries out hip and knee replacements, and it is a good hospital. But a hip replacement takes a morning to do and weeks to rebuild — almost all of it in your own house. Getting to an outpatient appointment and parking is, for many older people, harder than the treatment itself. We come to you instead, and build your programme around your actual stairs, your actual chair and your actual bathroom.

How much does a home physiotherapy visit cost in Amesbury?

An initial assessment is £110 for 60 or more minutes, including treatment, and follow-up visits start at £55 for 30 minutes. A 45-minute follow-up is £82.50 and 60 minutes is £110. There are no packages and no block bookings, and the first phone conversation is free.

Can you help after an operation at Salisbury District Hospital?

Yes, and it is a large part of what we do. After a hip or knee replacement, a fracture or other surgery, we visit you at home in Amesbury and work through a programme built around your surgeon's protocol, alongside any NHS follow-up rather than instead of it. If Wiltshire Council's Reablement Service has been involved, that support lasts up to six weeks — we often start where it finishes.

Can physiotherapy help after a fall in Amesbury?

Yes. Falls and balance are a large part of our work in Amesbury. We assess strength, balance and walking in the place where the fall happened — the stairs, the rugs, the bathroom, the chair you get up from — and build a programme to rebuild strength and confidence and reduce the risk of another fall. Families are welcome to be involved. Call Salveo Forma on 07384 590177 and we'll tell you on the first call how soon we can visit.

Do you provide occupational therapy at home in Amesbury?

Our Amesbury team is made up of physiotherapists at the moment, and we are actively recruiting occupational therapists for this area. It is worth calling us anyway, because a lot of what people ring an occupational therapist about — getting safely out of a chair, managing the stairs, reducing the risk of another fall — is work a physiotherapist does too. Physiotherapy rebuilds strength, balance and movement; occupational therapy looks at the practical business of daily life, and the two overlap constantly. Wiltshire Council's Reablement Service also includes occupational therapists, for up to six weeks. Call Salveo Forma on 07384 590177 and we'll tell you honestly what would help and what we can arrange right now.

Which parts of Amesbury do you cover?

The whole of Amesbury, including Kings Gate and Archers Gate, and Bulford, Durrington and Larkhill. If you are just outside, call Salveo Forma on 07384 590177 and we'll tell you which of our pages covers you.

Can I self-refer in Amesbury?

Yes. You don't need a GP referral — call Salveo Forma on 07384 590177 and we'll arrange a visit. There is no need to go through anyone else. We also accept referrals from GPs, hospital consultants and insurers, and many of our clients are arranging care for a parent or partner, which is completely fine too.

Amesbury has a major hospital with a 24-hour emergency department about ten miles away, on the far side of Salisbury. That is fortunate, and it is worth saying first.

Amesbury is also a young town by Wiltshire's standards: 13.6 per cent of people across the three Amesbury wards are aged 65 or over, against 21.9 per cent for the county. But that is still around 2,500 people, and more than 110,000 across Wiltshire as a whole.

That is who a home visit is for. A fall at home, a new hip, a spell in hospital that leaves someone weaker than when they went in — and a family, often living some distance away, trying to arrange help quickly.

And running through all of it is the same point. An emergency department in Salisbury does nothing for you at week three of a hip replacement, when the exercises are on the kitchen table and nobody has watched you try your own stairs. That is the bit we do.
