Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy & Rehabilitation At Home in Twyford

Home physiotherapy visit in Twyford, Hampshire

Recovering from an operation, a fall or a spell in hospital shouldn't mean a journey you're in no state to make — so we come to you.

Whether it's rebuilding strength after a hip replacement, getting your confidence back after a fall, managing Parkinson's or a stroke, or getting over an injury, our physiotherapists treat you at home in Twyford. We aim to visit within 2–7 days of your call — sometimes the next day — and no GP referral is needed.

Arranging physiotherapy for yourself or for someone you love? Just call Salveo Forma on 07384 590177 and we'll take it from there.

Our HCPC-registered physiotherapists cover Twyford and Shawford, and the villages of Colden Common and Owslebury. We visit people in their own home, in a care home, or in a nursing home — building a treatment plan around your life rather than a clinic timetable.

Twyford is older than England as a whole. In the Colden Common and Twyford ward, more than one in five people are aged 65 or over. So a great deal of our work in Twyford is physiotherapy for elderly people at home: falls and balance, rebuilding strength after a hospital stay, Parkinson's disease, stroke recovery and arthritis.

We also do a lot of post-operative work here. Many planned hip and knee replacements for the area are carried out at the Hampshire Orthopaedic Centre in Winchester, which opened in September 2025, and the rebuilding after that surgery happens at home — on your own stairs, in and out of your own chair.

Some people need occupational therapy alongside physiotherapy, and most aren't sure which one they need. Physiotherapy rebuilds strength, balance and movement; occupational therapy looks at the practical business of daily life — getting in and out of a chair, managing stairs, washing and dressing safely. Our Twyford team is made up of physiotherapists at the moment, and we are actively recruiting occupational therapists for this area. Call Salveo Forma on 07384 590177 and we'll tell you honestly what would help, and what we can arrange right now. No GP referral is needed.

We provide specialist home physiotherapy visits for:

  • Pre and post-operative rehabilitation — including hip and knee replacements
  • Back pain, joint pain, muscle pain and sports injuries
  • Recovering mobility, strength and confidence after a hospital stay
  • Neurological rehabilitation — including Parkinson's disease and stroke recovery
  • Falls prevention and balance rehabilitation
  • Older People Physiotherapy
  • Rheumatological Conditions

Living Independently at Home

Older adult receiving physiotherapy at home in Twyford

We Help You Live Independently With Confidence, Meaning & Purpose

Whether you're rebuilding strength after a hip replacement, getting steady on your feet again after a fall, or regaining confidence after a stay in hospital — getting to a clinic isn't always possible. We remove that barrier entirely.

Our physiotherapists come to you, delivering expert one-to-one treatment in your home or care home. No hospital car park. No waiting rooms. Just focused, specialist care at a time and pace that works for you and your family.

We treat you as a whole person — not just your symptoms.

If your shoulder hurts because your walking stick is the wrong height, we'll treat the shoulder and sort the stick. A knee problem that started with an old ankle injury gets both looked at. We find the cause, not just the complaint. As a small, close-knit team, we also work alongside your family and carers, making sure everyone involved feels supported, informed and part of the process.

Our clinicians each hold specialist areas of expertise, and we carefully match every patient with the therapist best suited to their condition and goals. From the very first visit, you're in the right hands.

After an Operation or Hospital Stay in Twyford

Where NHS rehabilitation ends, and how we pick up from there.

Twyford is well served, and it would be dishonest to open any other way. The Royal Hampshire County Hospital on Romsey Road in Winchester, run by Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, has an emergency department open 24 hours a day. In September 2025 it opened the Hampshire Orthopaedic Centre, a dedicated unit for hip and knee replacements. Southampton General Hospital, run by University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust, is also within reach.

So the honest question is: with all of that nearby, why would you need us?

Because the hospital is where the operation happens, and home is where the recovery happens. A hip replacement, a knee, a fractured wrist or hip — the surgery takes a morning. The rebuilding takes weeks, and almost all of it happens in your own house. A hospital in Winchester does nothing for you at week three, when you still cannot manage your own stairs and the exercise sheet is on the kitchen table.

Outpatient physiotherapy is the other half of it. It exists, and it is good, but it means getting there — into Winchester and up to Romsey Road — and parking, on a leg or a hip that is not ready for any of that. For a lot of older people the journey is harder than the treatment, and appointments get missed for exactly that reason.

Community therapy at home comes through Hampshire and Isle of Wight Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, and needs a referral from a health professional. Worth knowing: that trust was formed on 1 October 2024 from Southern Health and Solent NHS Trust, so you may still see either of the old names on letters, leaflets and older websites. It is the same service.

Where there is council support, it comes through Hampshire County Council's Reablement service. It is free, it includes occupational therapists, and it is capped at six weeks. We continue the work after that, or from the start if reablement was never part of the picture, for as long as it's genuinely helping and alongside anything the NHS already has in place.

FAQs

Do you provide home physiotherapy in Twyford?

Yes. Our HCPC-registered physiotherapists visit people at home in Twyford and Shawford, and in Colden Common and Owslebury. We also visit residents in care homes and nursing homes throughout the area. Call Salveo Forma on 07384 590177 to arrange a visit.

Why would I need a home physiotherapist when there are hospitals nearby?

Because the hospital is where the treatment starts, and home is where the recovery happens. The Royal Hampshire County Hospital has a 24-hour emergency department and a new orthopaedic centre, and Southampton General Hospital is within reach too. They are good services. But a hip replacement takes a morning to do and weeks to rebuild — almost all of it in your own house. Getting to an outpatient appointment and parking is, for many older people, harder than the treatment itself. We come to you instead, and build your programme around your actual stairs, your actual chair and your actual bathroom.

How much does a home physiotherapy visit cost in Twyford?

An initial assessment is £110 for 60 or more minutes, including treatment, and follow-up visits start at £55 for 30 minutes. A 45-minute follow-up is £82.50 and 60 minutes is £110. There are no packages and no block bookings, and the first phone conversation is free.

Can you help after an operation at the Hampshire Orthopaedic Centre?

Yes, and it is a large part of what we do. After a hip or knee replacement, a fracture or other surgery, we visit you at home in Twyford and work through a programme built around your surgeon's protocol, alongside any NHS follow-up rather than instead of it. If Hampshire County Council's Reablement service has been involved, that support is capped at six weeks — we often start where it finishes.

Can physiotherapy help after a fall in Twyford?

Yes. Falls and balance are a large part of our work in Twyford. We assess strength, balance and walking in the place where the fall happened — the stairs, the rugs, the bathroom, the chair you get up from — and build a programme to rebuild strength and confidence and reduce the risk of another fall. Families are welcome to be involved. Call Salveo Forma on 07384 590177 and we aim to visit within 2–7 days, sometimes the next day.

Do you provide occupational therapy at home in Twyford?

Our Twyford team is made up of physiotherapists at the moment, and we are actively recruiting occupational therapists for this area. It is worth calling us anyway, because a lot of what people ring an occupational therapist about — getting safely out of a chair, managing the stairs, reducing the risk of another fall — is work a physiotherapist does too. Physiotherapy rebuilds strength, balance and movement; occupational therapy looks at the practical business of daily life, and the two overlap constantly. Hampshire County Council's Reablement service also includes occupational therapists and is free for up to six weeks. Call Salveo Forma on 07384 590177 and we'll tell you honestly what would help and what we can arrange right now.

Which parts of Twyford do you cover?

The whole of Twyford, including Shawford, and the villages of Colden Common and Owslebury. If you are just outside, call Salveo Forma on 07384 590177 and we'll tell you which of our pages covers you.

Can I self-refer in Twyford?

Yes. You don't need a GP referral — call Salveo Forma on 07384 590177 and we'll arrange a visit. There is no need to go through anyone else. We also accept referrals from GPs, hospital consultants and insurers, and many of our clients are arranging care for a parent or partner, which is completely fine too.

Twyford has a major hospital a few miles away in Winchester, with a new orthopaedic centre. That is fortunate, and it is worth saying first.

It is also older than England as a whole. In the Colden Common and Twyford ward, 22.2 per cent of people are aged 65 or over, against 18.4 per cent for England, and across the Winchester district the figure is 20.9 per cent. Shawford has a station, but a train is little help on a new hip.

That is who a home visit is for. A fall at home, a new hip, a spell in hospital that leaves someone weaker than when they went in — and a family, often living some distance away, trying to arrange help quickly.

And running through all of it is the same point. A hospital in Winchester does nothing for you at week three of a hip replacement, when the exercises are on the kitchen table and nobody has watched you try your own stairs. That is the bit we do.
