NHS-experienced clinicians — not a contractor network.
Recovering from an operation or an injury shouldn't mean a journey across the city you're in no state to make — and from South Bristol, most planned hip and knee replacements happen at Southmead, on the far side of it. We come to you.
Our HCPC-registered physiotherapists cover South Bristol, including Bedminster, Southville, Windmill Hill, Totterdown, Knowle, Knowle West, Brislington, St Anne's, Bedminster Down, Bishopsworth, Headley Park, Hartcliffe, Withywood, Hengrove, Stockwood and Whitchurch Park. We visit people in their own home, in a care home, or in a nursing home — building a treatment plan around your life rather than a clinic timetable.
Bristol is a young city, so home physiotherapy here is as much about getting working people back on their feet as anything else: back and neck pain, overuse injuries, and recovery after surgery — hip and knee replacements, shoulder repairs, spinal surgery and fractures.
South Bristol's southern edge is a different story. Stockwood has the second-oldest population of any ward in Bristol — 22.1 per cent aged 65 or over — and Hengrove & Whitchurch Park is not far behind at 20.3 per cent. Across the city, more than 60,000 people are aged 65 or over, and more than a third of them live alone. So falls and balance, rebuilding strength after a hospital stay, Parkinson's disease, stroke recovery and arthritis are a big part of our work too.
Some people need occupational therapy alongside physiotherapy, and most aren't sure which one they need. Physiotherapy rebuilds strength, balance and movement; occupational therapy looks at the practical business of daily life — getting in and out of a chair, managing stairs, washing and dressing safely. Our South Bristol team is made up of physiotherapists at the moment, and we are actively recruiting occupational therapists for this area. Call Salveo Forma on 07384 590177 and we'll tell you honestly what would help, and what we can arrange right now. No GP referral is needed.
We provide specialist home physiotherapy visits for:
- Pre and post-operative rehabilitation — including hip and knee replacements
- Back pain, joint pain, muscle pain and sports injuries
- Recovering mobility, strength and confidence after a hospital stay
- Neurological rehabilitation — including Parkinson's disease and stroke recovery
- Falls prevention and balance rehabilitation
- Older People Physiotherapy
- Rheumatological Conditions
We Help You Live Independently With Confidence, Meaning & Purpose
Whether you're rebuilding strength after a hip replacement, getting a shoulder working again so you can go back to your job, or regaining confidence following a fall — getting to a clinic isn't always possible. We remove that barrier entirely.
Our physiotherapists come to you, delivering expert one-to-one treatment in your home or care home. No hospital car park. No waiting rooms. Just focused, specialist care at a time and pace that works for you, including evenings if that's what your shifts allow.
We treat you as a whole person — not just your symptoms.
If your shoulder hurts because your walking stick is the wrong height, we'll treat the shoulder and sort the stick. A knee problem that started with an old ankle injury gets both looked at. We find the cause, not just the complaint. As a small, close-knit team, we also work alongside your family and carers, making sure everyone involved feels supported, informed and part of the process.
Our clinicians each hold specialist areas of expertise, and we carefully match every patient with the therapist best suited to their condition and goals. From the very first visit, you're in the right hands.
Request a Call BackNothing means more to us than the 5-star reviews our clients share on Google. These heartfelt testimonials showcase what drives our team every day — delivering expert, empathetic physiotherapy care that helps people rebuild their strength, mobility, and independence without leaving home.
Our HCPC-registered physiotherapists provide home visits throughout South Bristol, including Bedminster, Southville, Totterdown, Knowle, Brislington, Bishopsworth, Hartcliffe, Hengrove and Stockwood.
We aim to visit within 2–7 days of your call — sometimes the next day — with no GP referral needed.
Whatever your condition, we match you with the clinician whose specialism fits your needs — and we treat you in the place where you actually have to manage day to day.
Where NHS rehabilitation ends, and how we pick up from there.
South Bristol is well served, and it would be dishonest to open any other way. The Bristol Royal Infirmary, run since July 2026 by the new Bristol NHS Foundation Trust, has the emergency department that serves the south of the city. South Bristol Community Hospital at Hengrove has an urgent treatment centre, open 8am to 8pm every day, and an inpatient rehabilitation unit for people who aren't yet ready to go home. And planned hip and knee replacements are done at the Avon Orthopaedic Centre at Southmead Hospital, the largest orthopaedic centre in the region.
So the honest question is: with all of that in the city, why would you need us?
Because the hospital is where the operation happens, and home is where the recovery happens. A hip replacement, a knee, a shoulder repair, a fracture — the surgery takes a morning. The rebuilding takes weeks, and almost all of it happens in your own house. The best orthopaedic centre in the region does nothing for you at week three, when you still cannot manage your own stairs and the exercise sheet is on the kitchen table.
Outpatient physiotherapy is the other half of it. It exists, and it is good, but it means getting across the city — to the BRI, where parking is paid around the clock, or all the way north to Southmead — on a leg or a shoulder that is not ready for any of that. For a lot of people the journey is harder than the treatment, and appointments get missed for exactly that reason.
NHS therapy at home comes through Sirona care & health, whose community teams include physiotherapists and occupational therapists. It is for people who can't get to outpatient appointments, and it is arranged through a referral from a health professional, such as your GP or the hospital team. Worth knowing: Bristol's two hospital trusts merged on 1 July 2026, so letters and websites may still say North Bristol NHS Trust or University Hospitals Bristol and Weston. They are the same hospitals.
Where there is council support, it comes through Bristol City Council's short-term help at home (reablement). It is free and lasts up to six weeks. You can ask for it yourself through Care Direct, or the hospital will arrange it when you are discharged. We continue the work after that, or from the start if reablement was never part of the picture, for as long as it's genuinely helping and alongside anything the NHS already has in place.
Clear pricing, agreed before your first visit. No packages and no block bookings.
Your first visit lasts 60 minutes or more, and treatment starts on the day: we talk through your health and what you’re finding hard, agree your goals, look at how you move, and leave you with exercises and a plan.
There’s no set course. About 1 in 4 of our clients need just one visit, and about half need three or fewer.

Most people pay privately, but it isn't the only route.
- Paying privately — no referral, pay after each visit
- Private health insurance, including BUPA and WPA
- Personal budgets and Direct Payments from Bristol City Council
- Attendance Allowance, if you are over State Pension age
- NHS Continuing Healthcare funding you already hold
Cover varies by policy and by council, so it's worth checking what yours includes before you book. We've written a plain-English guide explaining how each route works and what to ask.

Do you provide home physiotherapy in South Bristol?
Yes. Our HCPC-registered physiotherapists visit people at home across South Bristol, from Bedminster, Southville and Totterdown to Knowle, Brislington, Bishopsworth, Hartcliffe, Hengrove and Stockwood. We also visit residents in care homes and nursing homes throughout the area. Call Salveo Forma on 07384 590177 to arrange a visit.
Why would I need a home physiotherapist when Bristol has major hospitals?
Because the hospital is where the operation happens, and home is where the recovery happens. Planned hip and knee replacements for Bristol are done at the Avon Orthopaedic Centre at Southmead, on the far side of the city from Hengrove or Bishopsworth. The operation takes a morning; the rebuilding takes weeks, and almost all of it happens in your own house. Outpatient physiotherapy also means getting across the city and parking, which is often harder than the treatment itself. We come to you instead, and we build your programme around your actual stairs, your actual chair and your actual bathroom.
How much does a home physiotherapy visit cost in South Bristol?
An initial assessment is £110 for 60 or more minutes, including treatment, and follow-up visits start at £55 for 30 minutes. A 45-minute follow-up is £82.50 and 60 minutes is £110. There are no packages and no block bookings, and the first phone conversation is free.
Can you help after an operation at Southmead Hospital?
Yes, and it is a large part of what we do. After a hip or knee replacement at the Avon Orthopaedic Centre, a shoulder repair, spinal surgery or a fracture, we visit you at home in South Bristol and work through a programme built around your surgeon's protocol, alongside any NHS follow-up rather than instead of it. If Bristol City Council's short-term help at home has been involved, that support lasts up to six weeks — we often start where it finishes.
Can you work around my shifts?
Yes. If you're still working, or trying to get back to it, we visit between 8am and 8pm, seven days a week, so evening and weekend appointments are usually possible. Tell us your shift pattern when you call Salveo Forma on 07384 590177 and we will work around it.
Do you provide occupational therapy at home in South Bristol?
Our South Bristol team is made up of physiotherapists at the moment, and we are actively recruiting occupational therapists for this area. It is worth calling us anyway, because a lot of what people ring an occupational therapist about — getting safely out of a chair, managing the stairs, reducing the risk of another fall — is work a physiotherapist does too. Physiotherapy rebuilds strength, balance and movement; occupational therapy looks at the practical business of daily life, and the two overlap constantly. The NHS community therapy teams run by Sirona care & health also include occupational therapists, with a referral from a health professional. Call Salveo Forma on 07384 590177 and we'll tell you honestly what would help and what we can arrange right now.
Which parts of South Bristol do you cover?
All of it. We visit BS3, BS4, BS13 and BS14, covering Bedminster, Southville, Windmill Hill and Totterdown; Knowle, Knowle West, Brislington and St Anne's; Bedminster Down, Bishopsworth, Headley Park, Hartcliffe and Withywood; and Hengrove, Stockwood and Whitchurch Park. If you are just outside, call Salveo Forma on 07384 590177 and we'll tell you whether we can visit you.
Can I self-refer in South Bristol?
Yes. You don't need a GP referral — call Salveo Forma on 07384 590177 and we'll arrange a visit. There is no need to go through anyone else. We also accept referrals from GPs, hospital consultants and insurers, and many of our clients are arranging care for a parent or partner, which is completely fine too.
A young city — with more than 60,000 residents aged 65 or over, and some of its oldest wards in the south.
Sources: Census 2021, ONS; Bristol City Council, Population Profile: Older People (2024); Bristol NHS Foundation Trust; Bristol City Council adult social care.
Bristol is a young city, and we are not going to pretend otherwise. Thirteen per cent of people here are aged 65 or over, against 18.4 per cent for England, and that number grew more slowly than the national average between the last two censuses.
But a share is not a number of people. More than 60,000 Bristol residents were aged 65 or over at the last census, and more than a third of them live alone. They are not spread evenly, either. Stockwood and Hengrove & Whitchurch Park, on the southern edge of the city, both have a higher share of older residents than England as a whole.
The other half of South Bristol is work. If you are in your forties or fifties, you have had a shoulder repaired or a disc go, and you want to know how quickly you can get back to work, that is exactly what we help with — and we work around shifts to do it.
And running through both is the same point. Bristol has excellent hospitals, and that is genuinely fortunate. But an orthopaedic centre on the other side of the city does nothing for you at week three of a knee replacement, when the exercises are on the kitchen table and nobody has watched you try your own stairs. That is the bit we do.
Our chartered physiotherapists visit throughout the south of the city.
