NHS-experienced clinicians — not a contractor network.
Recovering from an operation, a fall or a spell in hospital shouldn't mean a journey you're in no state to make — so we come to you.
Whether it's rebuilding strength after a hip replacement, getting your confidence back after a fall, managing Parkinson's or a stroke, or getting over an injury, our physiotherapists treat you at home in Portishead — usually within the same week, and with no GP referral needed.
Arranging physiotherapy for yourself or for someone you love? Just call Salveo Forma on 07384 590177 and we'll take it from there.
Our HCPC-registered physiotherapists cover Portishead, from the town centre and the marina to Redcliffe Bay and West Hill, and Pill and Easton-in-Gordano nearby. We visit people in their own home, in a care home, or in a nursing home — building a treatment plan around your life rather than a clinic timetable.
Portishead is older than England as a whole. Across the town's four wards and Pill, more than one in five people are aged 65 or over — more than 7,000 people — although the newer homes around the marina are much younger. So a great deal of our work in Portishead is physiotherapy for elderly people at home: falls and balance, rebuilding strength after a hospital stay, Parkinson's disease, stroke recovery and arthritis.
We also do a lot of post-operative work here. Planned hip and knee replacements for the area are done at the Avon Orthopaedic Centre at Southmead Hospital in Bristol, and the rebuilding after that surgery happens at home — on your own stairs, in and out of your own chair.
Some people need occupational therapy alongside physiotherapy, and most aren't sure which one they need. Physiotherapy rebuilds strength, balance and movement; occupational therapy looks at the practical business of daily life — getting in and out of a chair, managing stairs, washing and dressing safely. Our Portishead team is made up of physiotherapists at the moment, and we are actively recruiting occupational therapists for this area. Call Salveo Forma on 07384 590177 and we'll tell you honestly what would help, and what we can arrange right now. No GP referral is needed.
We provide specialist home physiotherapy visits for:
- Pre and post-operative rehabilitation — including hip and knee replacements
- Back pain, joint pain, muscle pain and sports injuries
- Recovering mobility, strength and confidence after a hospital stay
- Neurological rehabilitation — including Parkinson's disease and stroke recovery
- Falls prevention and balance rehabilitation
- Older People Physiotherapy
- Rheumatological Conditions
We Help You Live Independently With Confidence, Meaning & Purpose
Whether you're rebuilding strength after a hip replacement, getting steady on your feet again after a fall, or regaining confidence after a stay in hospital — getting to a clinic isn't always possible. We remove that barrier entirely.
Our physiotherapists come to you, delivering expert one-to-one treatment in your home or care home. No hospital car park. No waiting rooms. Just focused, specialist care at a time and pace that works for you and your family.
We treat you as a whole person — not just your symptoms.
If your shoulder hurts because your walking stick is the wrong height, we'll treat the shoulder and sort the stick. A knee problem that started with an old ankle injury gets both looked at. We find the cause, not just the complaint. As a small, close-knit team, we also work alongside your family and carers, making sure everyone involved feels supported, informed and part of the process.
Our clinicians each hold specialist areas of expertise, and we carefully match every patient with the therapist best suited to their condition and goals. From the very first visit, you're in the right hands.
Request a Call BackNothing means more to us than the 5-star reviews our clients share on Google. These heartfelt testimonials showcase what drives our team every day — delivering expert, empathetic physiotherapy care that helps people rebuild their strength, mobility, and independence without leaving home.
Our HCPC-registered physiotherapists provide home visits throughout Portishead, including the marina, Redcliffe Bay and West Hill, and in Pill and Easton-in-Gordano.
We aim to offer same-week appointments across the area, with no GP referral needed.
Whatever your condition, we match you with the clinician whose specialism fits your needs — and we treat you in the place where you actually have to manage day to day.
Where NHS rehabilitation ends, and how we pick up from there.
Portishead has no hospital of its own, but good hospital care is within reach, and it would be dishonest to open any other way. The nearest 24-hour emergency departments are at the Bristol Royal Infirmary and Southmead Hospital, both run by Bristol NHS Foundation Trust, which was formed in July 2026 from the city's two hospital trusts. Planned hip and knee replacements are done at the Avon Orthopaedic Centre at Southmead, the largest orthopaedic centre in the region. For urgent problems that are not emergencies, the minor injuries unit at North Somerset Community Hospital in Clevedon, run by Sirona care & health, is open from 8am to 8pm every day.
So the honest question is: with all of that within reach, why would you need us?
Because the hospital is where the operation happens, and home is where the recovery happens. A hip replacement, a knee, a fractured wrist or hip — the surgery takes a morning. The rebuilding takes weeks, and almost all of it happens in your own house. A hospital in Bristol does nothing for you at week three, when you still cannot manage your own stairs and the exercise sheet is on the kitchen table.
Outpatient physiotherapy is the other half of it. It exists, and it is good, but it means getting there — into Bristol, or down to Clevedon — and parking, on a leg or a hip that is not ready for any of that. For a lot of older people the journey is harder than the treatment, and appointments get missed for exactly that reason.
NHS therapy at home comes through Sirona care & health, whose community teams include physiotherapists and occupational therapists. It is for people who can't get to outpatient appointments, and it is arranged through a referral from a health professional, such as your GP or the hospital team. Worth knowing: Bristol's two hospital trusts merged on 1 July 2026, so letters and websites may still say North Bristol NHS Trust or University Hospitals Bristol and Weston. They are the same hospitals.
Where there is council support, it comes through North Somerset Council's reablement team: free, short-term support at home, usually for up to six weeks, with no need for a full care assessment first. We continue the work after that, or from the start if reablement was never part of the picture, for as long as it's genuinely helping and alongside anything the NHS already has in place.
Clear pricing, agreed before your first visit. No packages and no block bookings.
Most people pay privately, but it isn't the only route.
- Paying privately — no referral, pay after each visit
- Private health insurance, including BUPA and WPA
- Personal budgets and Direct Payments from North Somerset Council
- Attendance Allowance, if you are over State Pension age
- NHS Continuing Healthcare funding you already hold
Cover varies by policy and by council, so it's worth checking what yours includes before you book. We've written a plain-English guide explaining how each route works and what to ask.
How to pay for your careAs a small, close-knit team, we pride ourselves on providing high quality treatment with a personalised and friendly approach. We treat you as a whole person and not just your symptoms, working with your family and carers to make sure everyone involved feels supported and informed.

Do you provide home physiotherapy in Portishead?
Yes. Our HCPC-registered physiotherapists visit people at home across Portishead, from the town centre and the marina to Redcliffe Bay and West Hill, and in Pill and Easton-in-Gordano nearby. We also visit residents in care homes and nursing homes throughout the area. Call Salveo Forma on 07384 590177 to arrange a visit.
Why would I need a home physiotherapist when there are hospitals within reach?
Because the hospital is where the treatment starts, and home is where the recovery happens. The Bristol Royal Infirmary and Southmead Hospital have 24-hour emergency departments, and there is a minor injuries unit in Clevedon. They are good services. But a hip replacement takes a morning to do and weeks to rebuild — almost all of it in your own house. Getting to an outpatient appointment and parking is, for many older people, harder than the treatment itself. We come to you instead, and build your programme around your actual stairs, your actual chair and your actual bathroom.
How much does a home physiotherapy visit cost in Portishead?
An initial assessment is £110 for 60 or more minutes, including treatment, and follow-up visits start at £55 for 30 minutes. A 45-minute follow-up is £82.50 and 60 minutes is £110. There are no packages and no block bookings, and the first phone conversation is free.
Can you help after an operation at Southmead?
Yes, and it is a large part of what we do. After a hip or knee replacement, a fracture or other surgery, we visit you at home in Portishead and work through a programme built around your surgeon's protocol, alongside any NHS follow-up rather than instead of it. If the council's reablement service has been involved, that support usually lasts up to six weeks — we often start where it finishes.
Can physiotherapy help after a fall in Portishead?
Yes. Falls and balance are a large part of our work in Portishead. We assess strength, balance and walking in the place where the fall happened — the stairs, the rugs, the bathroom, the chair you get up from — and build a programme to rebuild strength and confidence and reduce the risk of another fall. Families are welcome to be involved. Call Salveo Forma on 07384 590177 and we aim to visit within the same week.
Do you provide occupational therapy at home in Portishead?
Our Portishead team is made up of physiotherapists at the moment, and we are actively recruiting occupational therapists for this area. It is worth calling us anyway, because a lot of what people ring an occupational therapist about — getting safely out of a chair, managing the stairs, reducing the risk of another fall — is work a physiotherapist does too. Physiotherapy rebuilds strength, balance and movement; occupational therapy looks at the practical business of daily life, and the two overlap constantly. Sirona care & health's community teams also include occupational therapists, through a referral from your GP or the hospital team. Call Salveo Forma on 07384 590177 and we'll tell you honestly what would help and what we can arrange right now.
Which parts of Portishead do you cover?
The whole of Portishead, including the marina, Redcliffe Bay and West Hill, and Pill and Easton-in-Gordano nearby. If you are just outside, call Salveo Forma on 07384 590177 and we'll tell you which of our pages covers you.
Can I self-refer in Portishead?
Yes. You don't need a GP referral — call Salveo Forma on 07384 590177 and we'll arrange a visit. There is no need to go through anyone else. We also accept referrals from GPs, hospital consultants and insurers, and many of our clients are arranging care for a parent or partner, which is completely fine too.
More than one in five people across Portishead and Pill are aged 65 or over.
Sources: Census 2021, ONS (Portishead East, North, South and West wards and Pill ward; North Somerset); Bristol NHS Foundation Trust; Sirona care & health; North Somerset Council.
Portishead has major hospitals within reach in Bristol, and a minor injuries unit in Clevedon. That is fortunate, and it is worth saying first.
It is also older than England as a whole. Across the four Portishead wards and Pill, 22.9 per cent of people are aged 65 or over, against 18.4 per cent for England, and across North Somerset the figure is 23.9 per cent. In Portishead South it is nearly a third. Portishead has no railway station, so every hospital appointment means the M5 or the A369.
That is who a home visit is for. A fall at home, a new hip, a spell in hospital that leaves someone weaker than when they went in — and a family, often living some distance away, trying to arrange help quickly.
And running through all of it is the same point. A hospital in Bristol does nothing for you at week three of a hip replacement, when the exercises are on the kitchen table and nobody has watched you try your own stairs. That is the bit we do.
